How to Buy Verified CBD

After the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, industrial hemp was made legal in the United States, which in turn gave rise to CBD oil. Though more research is still being done, CBD is completely legal and you can purchase a CBD product online or in physical stores. But this comes with many problems. Since the product is legal, it has become anyone’s game, and with little regulation, it is hard to find authentic CBD oil products these days.

CBD is a non-psychoactive version of the cannabis plant that contains a very little THC. To put it simply, it is marijuana that doesn't get you high when consumed.

So far, CBD users have reported that it can help with pretty much everything from mental anxiety to physical pain. Even people have started to give CBD products to their dogs.

There are many ways in which you can consume CBD, including smoking, edibles, vaping, etc. But the new way of consuming the product has seen people mixing CBD oil with their food. CBD oil is the best way to consume CBD, as it makes it easier to incorporate into your routine.

CBD oils come in different shapes, sizes, strengths, and flavors. It is completely different from hemp oil in that hemp oil is derived from hemp seeds, while CBD oil is extracted from the whole plant.

How to find quality CBD products

If you want quality CBD oil products, avoid buying on an online retailer such as Amazon. While there are plenty of CBD oil products out there to buy, CBD is still a new concept that is unregulated. The FDA doesn’t monitor the production processes and distribution of CBD oil, so retailers are not under strict examination when it comes to how they concoct, label, and distribute their CBD oil products.

To be on the safe side here is what you should do:

  • Buy from the right brands

When it comes to CBD oil products, getting to know the brand legitimately matters a lot. Thankfully, many brands are now putting transparent on the forefront by providing consumers with all the information they need.

  • Get the COA (Certificate of Analysis)

Don’t just trust the label on the product. Be sure to ask for a certificate of analysis or COA from the company before buying the product. This paper is enough proof that a third-party, independent laboratory tested the CBD oil product you are about to purchase. The COA also includes what the lab findings are. Something else to keep in mind is that you will need to know the batch number of the CBD oil product you want to buy so that you can match the number to the certificate of analysis that pertains to it.

While looking at the COA, be sure to check out the following:

  • Potency: Is there CBD in the product? If so, how much? Look if it is written “total CBD) on the certificate. Potency simply highlights the level of cannabinoids in the product you want to buy.
  • Pesticides or contaminants: Was the hemp plant grown in pesticide-rich soil? Did some of the pesticides get into the product? Was the CBD oil extracted using solvents? If so, are the traces of the solvent in the product? Make sure there are no contaminant issues with the product, or heavy metals, toxins, etc. While reading the COA, look under the “Microbiological Testing” to check if there is mold or bacteria in the hemp that the CBD oil was extracted.
  • Safety: While there are probably thousands of CBD companies out there today, you will be well-advised to buy from the one that has been in the operation for more than three years. These companies can show that the laboratories that they are using are “good manufacturing practice” (GMP) and also certified organic and regularly inspected by the FDA.
  • Buy domestically sourced CBD

Be sure to ask about the origin of the hemp used in the product. The thing about hemp is that it is a powerful phytoremediation plant that cleans the soil. This means that it usually absorbs everything in the soil around it, including heavy metals, toxins, pesticides, and even nuclear fallout. So ensure that the hemp used in your product was grown using responsible farming practices, and in soil that is pre-tested for contaminants.

  • Go for CO2- Extracted CBD products

Another thing to know is how the product was extracted. CO2 extraction is non-toxic, so aim for products that are extracted using this method. Other alternatives include ethanol- or butane-based extraction, but both chemicals may find its way in the product. All this information is included in the COA.

  • Read the label

Labeling for CBD oil products is still a gray area right now, but try to avoid products with “CBD” printed on their labels. Most reputable CBD oil brands don’t print “CBD” on their products anymore. Instead, the label will simply say “hemp extract”, partly because of the FDA and DEA requirements, which states that if a product is listed under dietary supplement, it cannot contain CBD. For this reason, most brands have omitted labeling to be safe. Besides, if a label says “CBD” you may not tell if it is an isolated or an extract.

  • Aim for broad-spectrum hem over CBD isolate

Ask the seller if the product is full-spectrum. This is because hemp contains other beneficial compounds other than CBD, and all of them work together, building on each other’s’ unique strength to enhance the body’s positive response to CBD.

On the other hand, isolation is cheap and not as effective. But broad-spectrum is well-balanced.

  • Avoid hemp seed oil

Hemp seed oil is not CBD, as CBD is not derived from the seed and stalk of the plant.

Final Thoughts

CBD oil is going to be around for quite a bit of time. With its benefits, the popularity of the product is only going to increase in the future, especially considering that many researches are still underway that aim to unlock even more benefits of CBD. It is completely legal to buy and use CBD oil products. However, due to the unrestricted regulation, it is difficult to find an authentic product. At, all our products are third-party tested, and we are more than happy to provide you with a certificate of analysis for any CBD oil product you wat to buy.
