General Information

Dinitrochlorobenzene is a potent sensitizer that has been applied topically in the evaluation of delayed hypersensitivity. It has also been used as an immunostimulant in conditions such as leprosy, HIV infection, and some forms of cancer, and to treat alopecia and warts.

Generalized urticaria, pruritus, and dyspepsia developed in a previously healthy individual who used dinitro-chlorobenzene for alopecia totalis; all the symptoms disappeared within 10 days after the drug was withdrawn, but returned after reintroduction (1).
