Hemophilus b conjugate vaccine is a combination of the capsular polysaccharides or oligosaccharides purified from HIB type b bound with various proteins. Two reports and a review have described the maternal immunization with the capsular polysaccharide vaccine of HIB during the third trimester of prcgnancy to achieve passive immunity in the fetus and newborn. No adverse effects were observed in the newborns (review in Briggs 2005).
Recommendation. Vaccination results in pregnancy are lacking; discussion about the innoculty and effectivity are still ongoing.
