For gabapentin, there is published experience with more than 10 lactating mothers (Ohman 2005, Hagg 2000). The average M/P ratio is 1. Based on five mothers, Ohman (2005) calculated a relative dosage of 1.3-3.8% for the fully breastfed child. As the milk specimens were taken before drug administration, these relative dosages do not represent the maximum values. Concentrations in the infant's serum were around 12% of maternal values; no adverse effects were reported.
