How to Make a Gatorade Bong

Perhaps you’ve missed this tutorial before, or you didn’t take notes, but making a Gatorade Bong is simple. In a few steps it’s possible to have a water pipe imbued with your favorite flavor of this energizing drink. Since the bottle will retain a little aroma of flavors like grape, kiwi, or whatever flavor the bright blue stuff is, this is a do-it-yourself trick many smokers enjoy. The enjoyment is enhanced by the knowledge these are not expensive drinks, and this is a very cheap way to quickly create your own apparatus for enjoying marijuana or tobacco.

Finding the Right Container
Actually this doesn’t need to be a Gatorade bottle, but it does need to be at least a medium sized clear plastic container. People prefer this drink because even after this bottle is rinsed out a few times to clear any liquid or residue the aroma of former contents will usually still linger. These are also fairly cheap so even if you weren’t thirsty buying one and downing it just to have a water pipe container isn’t typically a problem.
Rinse Out the Bottle
Rinse the container out with some hot water, slushing the fluid around to get ingredient residue off the sides. Because plastic tends to pick up the smell of whatever fluid it contains quickly the container will still retain the fragrance of your favorite energy drink.

Find a Ballpoint Pen
You will need a ballpoint pen, or any thing that slender and hollow that can hold up the bowl. If you have a spare stem and bowl naturally you can use this. If you are using a disposal just take out the ink ballpoint and tubing and you will have an empty hard plastic or metal tube to use or this purpose. This should be a pen or other makeshift long enough to reach from the bottom of your bottle from it’s mid-point.
Making the Opening
The next step is to make a small hole about ¾ up the bottle. This should leave room at the bottom for the water, and enough space for a decent size chamber. To make this hole it’s best to use a small knife or a pair of scissors. Lay the container down on a sturdy surface, as you will probably need to apply a little pressure to make the cut properly.
The Second Opening
Make a second dime sized hole on the opposite side of the first opening. This should be about 2mm or so. This hole will act as the carbonator to clear smoke from the chamber. This placement should be within easy reach to hold with the fingers of one hand when you are lighting the bowl with the other hand.
Find a Bowl
The bowl can be anything from a small socket that can be fitted to the stem with masking tape, or just use the rolling paper used for cigarettes. Some people use tinfoil, but this isn’t recommended. Looking around it’s usually simple to find some item that can work to tape to the stem’s end portion to hold the substance you want to smoke.

Last Steps
Place the stem inside its opening and tape around the sides of this hole to get an airtight fit. Fill the bottom of your container with an about inch or so water to a point where the lower portion of the stem is covered.
Pack the bowl with the substance you want to use. Packing too tight will make for a slower burn, but too loose and the substance can filter down the tube.
The top opening of this container will act as the mouthpiece of the water pipe. You can now use your new creation just as you would a regular bong as the mouthpiece is wide enough inhale from easily.
Smoking
Inhale as you light up the bowl. Hold the carb with one finger as you do this and simultaneously suck lightly at the mouth of your bottle. The smoke should rise from the bottom of the apparatus to the chamber. Continue to milk the smoke upward for as long as you would like then release the carb, and inhale.
The end result will taste lightly of whatever beverage was once contained in the bottle, and this is the reason many people enjoy this method of creating a water pipe.
After use if the bottle is rinsed out of the water this pipe can be reused a number of times. It’s also possible to take the apparatus apart, store it, and reuse it again when needed. Most people who use these recommended not letting any fluid sit at the bottom too long after use as this can result in an unpleasant odor.
