Psilocybin And Psilocin Psychedelic Mushrooms

Psilocybin and psilocin are the hallucinogenic components of certain species of mushrooms found all over the world, especially in North, Central, and South America. Early users were so impressed by the effects of these mushrooms that they believed the fungi had divine origins. The sacred mushrooms of Mexico were called the teonanactl, or "flesh of the gods," by the Aztecs. Today, Mexican ceremonies combine shamanism and Roman Catholic ritual during nighttime, candlelight ceremonies. The shamans, usually women, conduct these services to treat illnesses, solve problems, and contact the "spirit" world.
