Anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties: The dried fruits of Kochia scoparia (L.) Schrader inhibit humoral immunity in experimental models of type I-IV allergy on account of an oleanolic saponin, momordicin Ic, which is also able to inhibit glucose and ethanol absorption in rats (Matsuda H et al., 1997; Yoshikama M et a/., 1997). An extract of seeds displays peripheral antinociceptive effects (Matsuda H eta/., 1997a) and kochianosides I-IV are antiprurinogen (Yoshikama M eta/., 1997a).
