[From Greek, erusibe = mildew]

Physical description: It is a woody climber which grows in the lowland rainforest of Malaysia and Indonesia. The stems are terete, smooth and glabrous. Leaves: simple, spiral and without stipules. The petiole is stout, 1.5 cm-2 cm x 3 mm, channeled and rugose. The blade is thick, 21 cm x 7.2cm-20.5cm x 9 cm, acuminate and obscurely notched at the apex. The margin is wavy and recurved. The blade shows 8-9 pairs of secondary nerves.

Synonymy: Erycibe angulata Prain

Uses: In Indonesia, Erycibe rheedii Bl. is applied externally to accelerate healing. The pharmacological potential of this plant is unexplored.

The inflorescences are axillary and velvety panicles.The corolla is5-lobed and white (Fig. 293).
